Business in the Community Ireland welcomes the Carbon Management Tool
Business in the Community Ireland welcomes the Carbon Management Tool Wednesday April 29th: A comprehensive Irish developed Carbon Management Tool (CMT) was launched today for organisations in Ireland to assist them in managing their carbon, cutting their costs and improving their competitiveness. Available at www.change.ie the tool is a free online application, developed by Change campaign as part of the Government's commitment to tackling climate change and lowering carbon emissions. Environment Minister John Gormley launched the Carbon Management Tool saying , “Tackling climate change has to be a collective effort. Government and many large and multi-national businesses are taking significant measures to lower emissions but we all need to work together. I encourage every business no matter how large or small, as well as voluntary organisations and Public Sector bodies, to go to Change.ie, download the tool and find out what their carbon number is and then follow the steps to reduce it and commit to reviewing it every 6-12 months”. Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) welcomed this new development. In March, BITCI issued a report to Government entitled Green Ireland: The Business of Climate Change' which was a report highlighting how business can have a major impact on climate change. Tina Roche, CEO of BITCI welcomed the Carbon Management Tool saying, “We believe in one central premise - business action on climate change is needed urgently and a strong corporate response must be part of the solution. We need to be thinking about the creation of a new transformational approach to climate change and this new tool from Change.ie will have a significant impact on how businesses manage carbon.”
