Corporate Responsibility Week is a unique initiative led by Business in the Community Ireland and its member companies. The week-long series of events aimed to highlight key issues on CR practice and how they affect business, as well as showcasing best practices from member companies. Public profile events sought to raise awareness among key stakeholders including media. The 2008 edition of CR Week focused specifically on corporate responsibility in action across Irish companies. Friday 3rd October: Launch of CR Week and Interactive Session -‘CR and Recession:An Oxymoron?' Kindly hosted by Ulster Bank Monday 6th October: Marketplace Day: Seminar - Sustainable Procurement in Action Kindly hosted by AIB Business in the Community Ireland aims to demonstrate sustainable procurement in action in the supply chains of leading companies in Ireland. This seminar demonstrated how large companies have integrated social and environmental criteria into the selection processes of their partners and suppliers. Tuesday 7th October: Community Day: 'Seeing is Believing' tour of Limerick led by Danuta Gray, O2 Ireland A group of board-level business leaders, led by O2's Danuta Gray, learned first hand about corporate social responsibility and about the relationship between their business and the local community during a tour of community groups. This tour enabled business to see first hand the issues that affect competitiveness e.g. education, employability, transport. Wednesday 8th October: Workplace Day: Workshop - ‘Winning the talent war with better Work Life Balance' in conjunction with the Great Place to Work Institute Kindly hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers In partnership with the Great Place to Work organisation, BITCI presented an interactive seminar exploring best practice in attracting and retaining the skills companies need to be a sustainable business in a global economy. Thursday 9th October: Environment Day: 'Climate Change CEO Forum' The CEO Forum is the keynote event of our second annual Corporate Responsibility Week. The Forum has been specifically designed to lead the discussion in Ireland among business, on the risks and opportunities posed by climate change and the strategies and actions required to address it. Business in the Community Ireland's CEO Forum on Climate Change will combine world-class speakers, inspirational stories, best practice, and networking with like-minded professionals in a collaborative learning environment.
