Business in the Community Ireland was established in 2000. We are a business network made up of Ireland's largest companies with the shared goal of increasing and improving Corporate Responsibility in Ireland.
Our Member Services Team works closely with over 60 of Ireland’s top companies on all aspects of corporate responsibility. We offer advice and guidance to member companies on a variety of corporate responsibility issues. Our in-house expertise covers strategy & governance, performance measurement, reporting and communications; employee engagement; corporate community involvement; health & wellbeing; environmental sustainability; sustainable procurement and climate change. Becoming a member of our network demonstrates a tangible
commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
In the past ten years we have seen a real sea change in the attitudes of Irish companies towards Corporate Responsibility. Many companies are using corporate responsibility as the corner stone of long term strategic and sustainable planning for the future. Our network is growing and our members collectively employ over 300,000 people in the country. Over the next decade, we aim to continue expanding our network to hundreds of companies around the country.
In addition to the work we do with large Irish companies on corporate responsibility, we also, through our social inclusion programmes, work with hundreds of companies nationwide to make an impact on key issues facing our society. Our programmes offer an ideal way for many companies to get involved in socially responsible initiatives.
The two issues that we have focused on over the last seven years are 1) Employment for people who are marginalised in our society and 2) Education with a particular focus on supporting students to stay in school until they complete their Leaving Certificate.
